Research shows that in the course of one turbulent year, livestreaming technology and online worship services became a ubiquitous part of modern ecclesiology. Christian communities are now faced with adjudicating their decisions — either ending their online worship or continuing it indefinitely. Amid all the questions that arise when a congregation engages in online worship, one question has the greatest saliency: how to balance, in the long run, embodied and digital practices within the Church community. In this workshop, Sutton will introduce his research in online worship, artificial intelligence and also provide a framework for how churches can navigate ecclesiological challenges in the digital age.
